Understanding Grace

LET US TALK ABOUT GRACE FOR A WHILE CAUSE THIS MIGHT HELP YOU

WHAT GRACE IS AND IS NOT

Grace is not

- going to do something for you

- a bad situation

- cheap, it is free

Grace is free to you and me but it was paid for with a dear price Jesus Christ

What Grace is

- what flows out of a Gracious God

- God’s Riches at Christ’s Expense

- Getting what you don’t deserve. Mercy is not getting what you deserve

- God doing for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves.

- The sum total of all that God did for us in Christ.

- God’s operational power

- The power for our faith to produce something

- The power that energizes our faith

Faith is what we use to draw that power into our lives

    UNDERSTANDING GRACE

    Grace has many facets

    - diamond

    - electricity produces; heat, light and cooling

    Three facets of Grace

Saving Grace: God’s grace flowing into my life to justify

    and save me

Standing Grace: God’s power flowing into my life so I can

    stand victoriously

Serving Grace: God’s power flowing into my life so I can

    serve God with His ability

    SAVING GRACE

    - God has totally initiated our salvation

    A. Grace has nothing to do with human works , good or bad

    B. Isaiah 65: 1 -2

    - Jesus did not come to earth by invitation

    - Jesus came by the will and the love of the Father

    - We did not initiate grace at all. If we would have , it wouldn’t be grace

    C. Revelation 13:8

    - Lamb slain before the foundation of the earth

    - In the mind of God, Jesus died before man ever sinned

By faith we let Jesus take the test for us. He satisfied the regulations of the whole law for us

    D. Romans 3: 10, 19 – 24

    - the law condemned man. Grace freed MAN

    - Under the law, no man is righteous

    - The law found man guilty (accountable) to God

    - We have been justified (made righteous) freely by His grace

    E. Romans 5: 6 – 9

Having now been justified (made righteous) by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him

    - God’s grace is bigger than sin

    F. Ephesians 2: 1 – 10 saved by grace through faith

    - God is rich in mercy because of His great love

    - By grace you have been saved

    - Our old nature deserved wrath

    - God wants to show us the exceeding riches of His

    grace.

Grace speaks of what God has done

Faith is responding to God’s grace

    G. Titus 2: 11 – 13 Grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men

    - Grace is past, present and future

    - Verse 11 - grace has appeared - past

    - Verse 12 - grace teaches us - present

    - Verse 13 - grace looks to His coming - future

    H. Titus 3: 3- 8

    - verse 3: This type of lifestyle produces judgment

    - verse 4, 5: Grace did not appear because of man’s

    righteousness

    - verse 7: God made us righteous (justified) by grace

    - verse 8: People who receive the grace of God should live like gracious

    people

    I. 1 John 4: 10 – 11 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us.

    - Because he loved us, we should love each other

    - Grace should have the same effect coming out of you as it did going in you

I will continue with the series next time. In the meantime be gracious to every one so they can see Jesus in you.

Have a great day and God bless
